Graduation Diploma in Industrial Management (PGDIM)
The
Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Management (PGDIM), recognized
as a full time MBA program by AICTE.
Management
programs differ enormously in what they offer i.e. functional
areas of business in which the participants wish to develop
their competencies. Though the course aims at providing a rounded
perspective to all major areas of business, typical MBA programs
give sufficient leverage in the form of elective or optional
subjects in any functional area.

Eligibility
Applicants
should have a Bachelor's Degree in any branch of Engineering/Technology
or equivalent with First Division (5% concession on First Division
% marks for SC/ST/PD candidates). Students appearing for final
degree examination are required to:
Complete their examination, viva-voce etc.
(except final results) by June 30, 2006.
Submit the final year mark-sheet and provisional
certificate by September 30, 2006.
The Final result
should indicate First Division (5% concession on First Division
% marks for SC/ST/PD candidates), else the admission to the
program will be withdrawn.
Only short listed candidates will be called for Group Discussion
and Personal Intrview at NITIE Mumbai.
Fulfilment of minimum qualifications would not be an automatic
claim for GD and PI.
Post
graduate Diploma in Industrial Engineering (PGDIE)
PGDIE
is one of the very few courses that enjoy corporate excellence
for over three decades. Its inception is to provide students
with methodologies and systematic approaches to deal with diverse
industrial challenges, PGDIE has evolved as a course for developing
Managers with cross- functional skills.
The most distinctive aspect of the PGDIE programme is its breadth.
The programme covers a variety of courses covering the areas
of Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, IT and Systems,
Marketing Management, Finance and Human Resources Management.
The pedagogic approach includes regular industry interaction
and method based teaching with present and future scenarios
in view. The students go through a rigorous academic schedule
and learn through most modern infrastructure and tools. The
emphasis of the curriculum is on developing an all round personality
that stands any challenge in the corporate world. The case studies,
presentations, industry projects and co-curricular activities
add to first hand experience and learning.
The PGDIE course at NITIE is a 24 months long programme is aimed
at "Udyog Pragati". The course includes 2 months of
summer project and 4 months of final project in industry. Besides
this, students are actively engaged in weekend industrial and
capstone projects. The curriculum in NITIE is continuously updated
to meet industrial needs.
Eligibility
All
engineering students with a first class degree and with a GATE
score of 85 percentile and above are eligible to apply for the
PGDIE programme. Keeping in view the requirements of effective
communications skills in the contemporary world, NITIE uses
Group Discussions and Personal Interviews as parts of the admissions
test procedure. The selection criteria are based on the combination
of the GATE percentile score, Group Discussion, and Interview
scores with appropriate weight given for each.
Fees
and Expenses
The
first year fee is payable with confirmation of selection. The
details of the fees are given below:
Tution Fees : Rs. 75,000/-
Hostels Room Rent @ Rs. 1500/- pm : Rs. 18,000/-
The fees for second year is to be paid before
15th June. Sponsored candidates must deposit the fees for the
entire course on or before the day of admission.
PGDIE students each get a Teaching Assistantship
(TA) of Rs. 5,000/- per month and a Contingency Grant of Rs.
5,000/- per year.
Post
Graduate Programme in Induatrial Safety and Environmental Management
(PGDISEM)
The
program prepares students for managerial positions in corporations,
government agencies, consulting firms and NGO's.
The PGDISEM curriculum consists of 32 courses - 29 core and
2 electives; two internships of two and four months duration
spread over seven modules. Initially the students are required
to enhance their technical skills, which are augmented with
management knowledge in later stage. As theoritical training
is incomplete unless applied and tested in the actual business
situations, the industry projects account for 18.75% of the
total credits. The students undergo rigorous industry based
training through an eight-week summer project after the first
year and a sixteen-week internship towards the course. During
these projects the students get hands-on experience of real
life business situations.
Eligibility
Engineering
/ Technology graduates in any branch with first class (relaxable
by 5% in case of SC/ST/PD candidates) and with valid CAT scaore
(Common Admission Test) .Admission is based on Group Discussion
and Personal Intrview with appropriate weightage and CAT score.
Reservations for SC/ST/ PD candidates is as per the Govt of
India rule. Candidates who are currently in their final year
of Engineering / Technology degree can also apply , provided
they expect to complete all their exams and other requirements
for obtaining the qualifying degree before June 30th 2006.

Fellow
(Doctoral) Programme
The Fellow Programme aims at developing outstanding scholars
who explore the inexact science of management with a beyond
the obvious perspective.
Eligibility:
Master's
Degree in Engineering/Science/Business Management or Administration
/ Commerce / Social Sciences/Humanities (with minimum first
class). The candidates should have earned their course credits
by undergoing full-time course work or passed the NET or recognized
equivalent examination.
Direct candidates are eligible for GOI Scholarship of Rs.5600/-
p.m. (for Engg. Post Graduates) for the first 2 years and Rs.
6,400/- for the next 2 years and Rs.5000/- p.m. (for Non-Engg.
Post Graduates) for the first 2 years and Rs. 6,400/- for the
next 2 years . Industry sponsored candidates with minimum of
two years working experiance at executive level is required.
Areas
of Research
Organisation
Behaviour, Personnel Management, Marketing, Ergonomics, BPR,
TQM, TPM, Reliability Management, Operations Research, Information
Technology, SCM, Production Management, Finance & Accounting
and Environmental Management. Selection for the fellow Programme
will be on the basis of the following criteria: i) Academic
qualifications and experience, ii) Seminar on selected areas
of research and iii) Interview.

Library
NITIE
houses one of the best libraries in the field of Management
sciences. This vast reservoir of knowledge is a source of constant
value addition to the students and faculty members. The rich
collection is also accessible to the corporate world through
corporate or professional memberships.
The institute has a reciprocal understanding with libraries
of major institutes like IIT Mumbai, TIFR, TISS, University
of Bombay, etc. for symbiotic acquisition of knowledge. It has
also initiated a dialogue for networking some of them through
the Internet. Access to 'ernet' is also on the anvil

Centre
NITIE
has a well equipped computer centre with state of the art computer
facilities. As on today, NITIE has 46 Pentium III & 35 Pentium
II based workstation running on various platforms like Windows
95, Windows 98, NOVELL Netware and Windows NT.
NITIE has established MICROSOFT Lab in technical collaboration
with Microsoft Corp. This lab has Windows NT with Back office.
All the Microsoft packages run on LAN. NITIE has NICNET connectivity
through VSAT provided by NIC .
Laboratories
and Research Facilities
NITIE
is equipped with sophisticated, state of the art laboratories
for application research in condition based monitoring, simulation,
maintenance, ergonomics, and safety engineering, work-study
and occupational health. Exceptional work has been done by the
faculty and students in the field of value engineering in organisations
of the like of Bajaj Auto, Indian Oil, Johnson & Johnson
etc. The faculty regularly undertakes consultancy assignments
in other areas also.
NITIE also has a full-fledged audio video centre, which facilitates
the development of personality through modular sessions.
