& Policy (PGP-PMP)

The
Programme
PGP-PMP is a rigorous one-year
programme in public management and policy with concentration in governance and
policy formulation and implementation, financial regulation, infrastructure
development, management of international organizations, public enterprise
management, and technology policy and management.
This is a one-year full-time residential programme for civil servants, managers
of parastatals and public enterprises, professionals from NGOs, executives of
private sector firms dealing with public management issues, and those pursuing
political careers with legislative experience.
International exchange /
attachment has been designed to expose participants to public management
policies and practices followed in a different cultural context. Currently, the
institute has formal understanding for attachment / exchange programmes with -
(i) Faculty of Economic & Social Sciences, IOMBA Programme, University of
Geneva;
(ii) Lyndon Johnson School of Public Affairs, University of Texas at Austin;
(iii) The Georgetown Public Policy Institute, Georgetown University;
(iv) The H. John Heinz III School of Public Policy & Management, Carnegie Mellon
University; and
(v) The Warwick Business School, University of Warwick.
The institute offers on-campus
placements for non-sponsored candidates.
Admission
Procedure
Application Form for the second
programme (2008-09) which begins on April 1, 2008 is available online. The
deadline for receipt of applications is November 3, 2007 with GMAT (www.mba.com)
/ GRE (www.ets.org) score obtained between April 1, 2005 and November 3,
2007 or CAT score from any of the last three CATs. To ensure that GMAT scores
are sent directly to IIMA, please enter IIMA PGP-PMP Code: CQQ-RR:62.
Candidates without GMAT / GRE /
CAT may also apply but they will be short-listed on the basis of application
rating for a specially designed test of IIM-A to be conducted simultaneously at
Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Delhi, and Kolkatta. All short-listed candidates are
expected to spend a day at IIM-A where they would meet with the faculty and
attend an interview. The admission process will be completed by January 4, 2008.
Selected candidates are expected to make their own arrangements for obtaining
leave, etc., from their organizations.
Eligibility
Criteria
Applicants must have a bachelor�s
degree or equivalent in any discipline and should have at least seven years of
work experience by March 2008 in a supervisory / managerial / administrative
position. Candidates with legislative experience are also eligible to apply
provided they are -
(i) 27 or more years old, and
(ii) have one year or more of experience as a minister at the central level or
as a member of parliament or 2 years or more of experience as minister at the
state level or as member of the legislative assembly / council; or have served
for 5 years or more as councilor of municipal corporation or of zilla parishad.
All candidates would have to have
bachelor�s degree without exception. All candidates should have a GMAT / GRE
score obtained between April 1, 2005 and November 3, 2007 or CAT score from any
of the last three CATs. Those without GMAT / GRE / CAT will be short-listed on
the basis of application rating for a specially designed test of IIM-A
to be conducted simultaneously at Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Delhi, and Kolkatta.
Selection of candidates for
interviews and final selection for admission will be based on multiple criteria
and not on any particular parameter. It is possible that candidates with higher
test scores than those who are selected may not have been short-listed for
interviews or offered admission.
Fees &
Expenses
The fee, including international
attachment / exchange, is Rs. 12 lakh.
Financial
Aid
Fellowships to cover part or full
tuition and related fee may be available to top 10 per cent of participants.
Several banks are interested in offering loans to those admitted to PGP-PMP. IIM-A
will facilitate bank loans to all those who are in need of it.
