Department
of Management Sciences (PUMBA) has established itself as a Brand
in the field of management education and competes with the very
best in this respect. An updated syllabus keeping with the industrial
requirements, a very professional faculty and the state of art

philosophy of learning by working on real life challenges. Students
learn management by applying the conceptual knowledge earned
through rigorous training sessions in business-like situations.
These are simulated on campus by the inherent work culture and

Major

100 credit course spread over six trimesters (22 months).
Specializations offered in 5 functional areas : Marketing, Finance,

Eligibility
A
three years Bachelors degree in any discipline with 45% aggregate
marks (40% for SC/ST candidates).

Admission
Process
Admission
procedure for the MBA course to PUMBA is conducted by The Directorate
of Technical Education, Maharashtra (DTE). We request you to
contact the DTE for detailed information.
Common
Entrance Examination score is considered for admission. The
written test is held in May or June and GD / Interviews are
conducted in June / July.

Total marks are 240 and the distribution is as follows

CET
is a 2-½ hour paper consisting of 200 questions. Each
question carries 1 mark, with no negative marking. It tests

Masters in Business Administration (Biotechnology)
PUMBA
has launched a two-year full-time MBA program in biotechnology
i.e. MBA (Biotechnology) (MBA-BT) from the academic year 2002-2003.
This is the first such program in any Indian University/Institute
and probably the world.
Biotechnology (BT) is being acclaimed as the new frontier for
knowledge development at national as well as international levels.
The Bio-Tech industry is expected to boom in India as well as
over the world. Since BT is a knowledge intensive industry,
it is expected that India will have a competitive advantage
and will be able to take full advantage of this opportunity,
as has happened in the case of the IT industry.
To
ensure that this opportunity is fully utilized and developed
for national economic benefit, a vital need will be of trained
manpower, both technological as well as managerial.
Managerial manpower, with BT specialization, will be needed
to play an entrepreneurial role and to manage effective and
efficient commercial utilization of the BT research outcomes.
The BT focused managers will also monitor the socio-economic
and ethical issues so that the technology is harnessed and applied
for the holistic betterment of mankind.
Looking to this future need and opportunity, University of Pune
has taken a path-breaking initiative to help catalyze and direct
this technology revolution.

Eligibility
Any
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Science (Special/General with
Biotechnology, Biology, Botany, Chemistry, Microbiology, Zoology,
Biochemistry, Physics, etc), Agriculture, Medical Sciences,
Pharmacy, Ayurved, Veterinary Sciences, Technology, Engineering
of a University Recognized by the AIU.
Reservation
50%
seats are reserved for SC, ST, DTNT and OBC category students
as per Government of Maharashtra rules. 3% seats are reserved
for Physically handicapped students as per government of India
rules. 1 seat is reserved for J&K student as per rules.
Selection
Process
Candidates
seeking admission for this program should appear for the ATMA
test being conducted on February 6th 2005. For details about
ATMA please visit their site .www.atma-aims.org. Further, these
candidates should appear for the GD/PI to be conducted by the
Department of Management Sciences (PUMBA). Details of the GD/PI
and other details are available in the Department's prospectus
available from the office of the department from November 25
2004, on all working days, between 11 am to 5 pm on payment
of Rs 250 (for Open category) and Rs 150 (for reserved category)
through DD drawn in the favour of "The Registrar",
University of Pune, payable at Pune. The prospectus can also
be obtained by post by paying through DD of Rs 325 (for Open
category) and Rs 225 (for reserved category).
